EVANGEL MEN’S MINISTRY

Men's Prayer Breakfast

The Men’s Prayer Breakfast convenes each Saturday at 6:45 a.m., or as

Pastor John jokingly states, “a quarter of seven.”  In 23 years, Deacon Jerry Osborne, Leader, reported that 2006 was one of the best and most accomplished years for the Men’s Prayer Breakfast.  The weekly attendance averaged over 50 men ranging from age 16 to over 90 years old.  Every Saturday morning a group of dedicated men organize the fellowship hall while others cook and stay after to help clean.  A prayer partnership program is established where fellowship and communication take place with other Godly men.

2007 Men’s Retreat – Camp Hebron, Halifax, PA

On March 15-17, 2007, we convened at Camp Hebron in Halifax, PA.  The setting was great, and more than 90 men gathered for 3 days of prayer, fellowship, worship, and self-examination.  This year’s theme, “Maximizing Your Manhood,” reached the core of each man’s Christian walk.  Similar to last year, we had men from other churches, denominations, and beliefs united as one.  Old acquaintances were renewed, and new ones were established.  All the men whether old, young, yellow, black, or white enjoyed outstanding meals and fellowship with each other and the Lord!

Our guest speaker was Pastor Jerry Qualls, Senior Pastor of Glad Tidings Church.  He expounded on issues facing today’s man.  During his lectures, he challenged us with ways to avoid sin, resist temptation, break strongholds, and establish and maintain love affairs with God and our spouses.

Our second speaker was our own Senior Pastor, St. Clair Mitchell.  He lectured on “Changing Heads.”  His message was about man’s need to cause change in his life in order to benefit the family.  Pastor Mitchell stated,  “Man needs to grow so his family can grow.  As the head of the house, change must begin with the man.”  Pastor Mitchell encouraged all men to let go!  He said this was a command from God.  “We are to let go of our ways and trust God.  This will enable us to get addicted to Him and refrain from sin.”

Finally, this was an outstanding retreat, and the ultimate goal of changing lives, breaking strongholds, and building relationships was accomplished.  The men departed with a new perspective and goal to grow closer to God.  This year’s retreat was a huge success with a capital “S!”
